Children and Adolescents
CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS:
The Children's Groups: Designed to meet the needs of children who are experiencing attentional, social, emotional or behavioral difficulties. Participation in this small group setting provides children with successful coping skills to enhance their emotional, social and academic functioning. Through a wide variety of interventions, participants in all groups will develop adaptive and age-appropriate coping skills to assist them in achieving their potential.
These skills include: social interaction skills, identifying and verbalizing emotional effectively, anger management, effective communication, conflict resolution techniques, stress management and relaxation techniques, developing positive peer relationships, effective decision-making, self-esteem building, understanding consequences of behaviors, dealing with peer and societal pressures, sexuality, and developing a positive sense of identity and independence.
The Adolescent Groups: Adolescence is a time of physical, cognitive, and emotional changes. The task of developing a positive identity is difficult for many children in today's changing world. The Adolescent Groups are designed to address the needs of adolescents who are experiencing emotional, social, attentional or behavioral difficulties. Participation in these groups for young men and women provide adolescents with the skills they need to develop into healthy, responsible adults.
Organizational and Study Skills Classes: This course is designed to improve academic performance and to develop a positive attitude toward learning. Students that lack appropriate organizational and study skills are often unable to perform to their academic potential. Successful approaches to learning, time management, note taking, organization, improving comprehension, test taking and homework completion will be provided to each participant.
