2nd Annual Gala and Auction was a Great Success!
Our Second Annual Dinner and Auction was held on April 10th 2010 at the Amber Room in Danbury. This event was attended by nearly 200 guests and raised over $25,000 to support The Child and Family Institute counseling and camp programs.
The silent auction featured a range of great gift baskets and vacation packages. Family themed- day trip packages, weekend getaways, salon & spa baskets, kids library, and a puppet theater with puppets were just a few of the items that guests generated heavy competition for bidding!
The live auction was quite exciting! Guests bid on The Kings of Leon concert tickets and band jerseys for an August performance. One lucky guest scored the “Producers Own” tickets to see Jersey Boys on Broadway- including limo service and dinner! Guys-Night-In, a catered poker night with card dealer, liquor, cigars, food and wait service staff was a popular item. A Central Florida Vacation for four with condo, airfare, Disney and SeaWorld tickets was ultimately scored by one of our event volunteers and his family!!
Our guest speaker was a young woman whom we called “Jillian”. Jillian shared her story of a childhood filled with neglect, abandonment, abuse, and disappointment. She read a poem that highlighted her sad past. Her words assured those listening that she is not a victim to her history, but a bright, capable, talented and optimistic survivor. Jillian generously identified the seven years of support from CFI as one of the foundations to her ‘success story’. She will begin college in the Fall- and all who met her that evening left with the full knowledge that she has a bright and happy future.
Special thanks to all the volunteers who worked to make this evening a wonderful success. We are all looking forward to next year’s event!
